Three Wedding Photography Trends for the 2020 Wedding Season
Without a doubt, your wedding day is arguably one of the most important day of your life. It’s the day that you and your partner attest your love and unwavering commitment to one another in front of all of your nearest and closest family members and friends. Because this is such a monumental and important date in your life, it’s essential to make sure you commemorate it with professional photographs.
However, while there are a few pictures you absolutely want to make sure you capture – such as your first kiss, or your first dance as a married couple – there are a few other things that are also worth getting on film. Not sure what those are? Here are three wedding photography trends that are taking the wedding photography world by storm this wedding season!
Documentary Style Photographs
While there’s a time and place for carefully posed and staged pictures, spontaneous and relaxed pictures are starting to take precedent over these manufactured photographs. Of course, getting “documentary” style pictures aren’t meant to replace those arranged pictures of you and your future spouse. Instead, they’re supposed to capture those organic moments (such as a spontaneous kiss, or a shared smile over wedding cake) that you and your loved one will share on your big day.
Unplugged Weddings
If you asked your parents or your grandparents if their wedding was unplugged, they’d probably ask you what you meant by that. Back then, there weren’t guests waving their smart phones or tablets around in the air, trying to snap a picture of the bride or groom. Unplugged weddings (weddings where guests are strictly advised to keep their personal cameras in their pockets and purses) are growing in popularity. Instead of having a guest inadvertently ruin a shot with their smart phone, we’ll take all of the amazing pictures that you need of your wedding.
A Parent’s First Look
The concept of “first looks” remains highly controversial. After all, everyone knows that the bride or the groom aren’t supposed to be seen before the actual wedding ceremony! That said, first looks are still going strong, but they’re going one step further this season. Instead of showing the betrothed couple peeking at each other, they’re instead featuring the proud parents getting a glimpse of their child before they make their way down the aisle. Getting these tender moments on camera is something that we here at Kinard Photography consider an absolute privilege.
